Some links on this site earn us a commission. Here is exactly how that works, and what we do so it does not quietly bend what we write.
The short version
Links from this site to GetYourGuide and Viator are affiliate links. If you click one and book, the platform pays us a percentage of its own margin. You pay the same price you would have paid arriving at that listing any other way. Nothing is added to your total, and the operator does not receive less.
This is disclosed in the footer of every page, next to every booking button, and here in full, in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and material connections.
Which links are affiliate links
- Every button reading "Check live availability & prices" or similar.
- Any in-text link that goes to a getyourguide.com or viator.com listing page.
- Product cards on the homepage and the comparison page.
Links to INAH, UNESCO, AFAC, operator websites, Reddit threads and news sources are not affiliate links and earn us nothing. We link them because they are where a fact came from.
What stops commission deciding the ranking
Honest intentions are not a system, so we use a mechanical rule instead. The flights on this site are ordered by the review count each platform publishes, because that is the only booking-volume signal either platform actually exposes. It is not our preference and it is not what pays most.
The consequence is visible on the homepage: the listing we put first has 7,085 reviews, and the listing we put last has 21. If the 21-review listing paid triple, it would still be last, because the rule is the rule. When we recommend a lower-ranked flight for a specific reason, we say what the reason is and you can disagree with it.
What we will not do for a commission
- Invent a statistic. If a cancellation rate or an altitude figure is not published anywhere, we say nobody publishes it rather than filling the gap with something plausible.
- Hide a real complaint. The 4:15 a.m. pickups, the take-offs that miss golden hour, the underwhelming cave breakfast and the obsidian-workshop stop are all on this site, in the same places you would look before booking.
- Claim experience we have not had. Until a named editor with real credentials joins this site, nothing here is written in the first person.
- Pretend the platform price is the only price. Booking direct with a Mexican operator is cheaper, we say so plainly, and we earn nothing when you do it.
Prices and figures
Every price, rating and review count on this site is what the listing showed on the date we checked it. These move constantly. That is precisely why the buttons open the live listing instead of quoting you a cached number and hoping.
